Sunday Already...

Wow. It's been a fast week. Work is heating up and I'm in full swing. I love it and have a great team to work with...

The weekend was great. Lin came to Austin for the first real time in our new adventure. She did not get in until late Friday after making a wrong turn in Brenham. However we did get going by about 10:00 AM Saturday and spent the day exploring. We really worked the neighborhoods. Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Lago Vista, and many points in between.

We found some homes in Forest Creek (Round Rock) that we really liked and Lago Vista was also very interesting. We are not settled as to whether the "Lake" or "Suburbia" will fit us best but we enjoyed the adventure. We did not get back to the apartment until after 7:00 Pm but talked most of the night about things and places we had seen.

We stumbled across a 5 acre place outside of Pflugerville on the Internet and were excited about the concept so we bounced up about 8:00 AM Sunday and got out for more exploration by a little after 9:00 AM. We drove out in the country and found the house on 5 acres. We liked it... pool... out buildings... pond... etc... We headed to my office at Dell to get the number of the Dell sponsored real estate agent and found the property was only 10 minutes from my office. Lin got a 10 minute tour on a quiet Sunday Morning but it was good for her to see where I worked so she could associate with the storied I tell her about work...

We headed to 620 Cafe in Round Rock which is a great old cafe that was here when I first came to Round Rock (30+ years ago). The food was great and we kept brainstorming about the house and the opportunities. After breakfast it was just 10:30 AM but we decided it was late enough to call the real estate agent. She was great but pulled up the listing to see if we could see it and found out that a contract was pending on the house. This burst our bubble. We were both disappointed but decided there was no need to look inside if we probably would not get the house. The contract was just put on the house 3 days ago so it was too soon to see if the deal would go through. She will follow up in a few days but the reality is that we did not need to find the dream home this weekend as we have months of activities before we can actually make the final move.

This weekend did serve it's purpose, in that we got to look around and begin to narrow down the concepts of, do we want to buy or build, or live in a subdivision or at the lake. Lin has a much better idea of the area and we will continue to build to a solid plan. We did some more exploring around Round Rock and made a jaunt into Austin to just get a dimension of how things had changed since I lived here before (now 15 years in the past).

By about 2:00 PM Lin was dozing in the car and Maggy was ready to be home so we came back to the apartment for a quiet afternoon, a light lunch, and 3 naps... Lin left about 4:30 PM to drive back to Houston so she did not have to be out in the night and repeat her adventure of Friday night. She got home safely and I had an afternoon of football.

Next week will be more work fun and some planning with real estate agents. The plan is for me to go to Houston next weekend and work with movers to get the Katy house moved to Hylander... I'll update the blog and let all of you know how things go...

For now, hugs all around and have a great week... Love... Gene
